Choral Music

Jason Max Ferdinand, appointed Director of Choral Activities at the University of Maryland, College Park in Fall 2022, expresses gratitude to his mentor, Edward Maclary. An accomplished Professor, Conductor, Composer, and Speaker, Ferdinand founded The Jason Max Ferdinand Singers and held leadership roles at Oakwood University, where he directed the Aeolians. A published author and composer, Ferdinand’s contributions include the book “Teaching with Heart: Tools for Addressing Societal Challenges Through Music” and The Jason Max Ferdinand Choral Series (Walton Music).

Trinidad & Tobago native Ferdinand holds degrees from Oakwood College, Morgan State University, and the University of Maryland. His transformative journey included mentorship by Dr. Edward Maclary and collaborations with acclaimed musicians. Ferdinand’s directing achievements with the Aeolians, including performances at Carnegie Hall and international acclaim, highlight his outstanding career. Recognized as a guest conductor and lecturer worldwide, Ferdinand’s ensembles have released recordings, and he actively contributes to choral organizations and educational initiatives. Committed to mentoring emerging talents, Ferdinand’s impact extends beyond the musical realm, exemplifying his dedication to education, cultural enrichment, and leadership in choral music.
